Safe and Fair: Realizing women migrant workers' rights and opportunities in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations

The project 'Safe and Fair: Realizing women migrant workers’ rights and opportunities in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region' is part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to eliminate violence against women and girls, a global, multi-year initiative between the EU and the United Nations (UN). The Safe and Fair programme is a 25 million euro investment implemented through a partnership between ILO and UN Women with the overriding objective of ensuring that labour migration is safe and fair for all women in the ASEAN region, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.

My Journey Mobile App

For many Cambodian women migrant workers who live and work abroad, there are significant information gaps and challenges in accessing service providers essential for ensuring their safety and rights. "One of the challenges faced by migrant workers is that they often risk isolation in the host country. They may feel disconnected from local services and information," explains Sarah Knibbs, Officer-In-Charge of UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.

To address these challenges, the My Journey Mobile App was developed. This app was created through a collaboration between the Safe and Fair Programme in Cambodia, the Child Helpline Cambodia, and InSTEDD iLab. The My Journey Mobile App offers access to essential, trustworthy, and practical information and services that are readily available on mobile phones, regardless of location.
